Safeguarding our guests

Although we cannot say that you will be 100% protected from Coronavirus during your stay in the Lake District, we will be doing everything possible to minimise the risks.
Rydal Lodge is a large building with 2 staircases so there is ample room to social distance.

Cleaning

  • There will be hand sanitiser in the bedrooms and at entrances/exits.

  • The Honesty Bar will be open as usual, but we'll leave hand sanitiser on the bar to be used before and after taking drinks from the fridge.

  • We won't be refreshing rooms while guests are staying.  Sufficient tea/coffee/sugar etc will be placed in rooms at the beginning of the stay (just ask if you need more).  If you'd like your bins changing please tie your bin bags up and place them outside your room.  If you'd like towels changing please leave them outside your room.

  • Guests will be asked to bring down used milk flasks - new flasks will be left in the fridge in the bar.

  • Rooms will be thoroughly cleaned between guests with all surfaces cleaned with anti-bacterial wipes.

  • Keys will be sanitised on guest's departure.

  • Mark and Helena will be washing hands regularly.

  • All internal doors allowable by fire regulations will be propped open so there will be no need to touch handles.

Social Distancing

  • Checking in:  signing in will be on a separate form for each set of guests with the pen changed at each signing.

  • For guests booking Rooms 3 and 4, The Loughrigg Suite, The Rothay Suite (when one or two people are staying) and the Superior Double/Twin (when one or two people are staying) there will be the option of breakfast being brought to rooms in the morning.

  • For those having breakfast in the Dining Room we will seat family groups at least 2 metres away from each other.  To reduce the amount of time Helena will be in the Dining Room we ask that you pre-order your breakfast the night before.  If we're busy we may have to have staggered breakfast times.

  • We will endeavour to stay 2 metres apart from our guests at all times (except when serving breakfast)

  • We will be asking our guests to stay within their family groups and to stay 2 metres apart from other guests.

  • To ensure guests aren't touching the same objects at breakfast there will be only small cereal packets (no jars), juice will be in glasses, there will be enough milk for cereals and tea/coffee on your table, serving spoons/tongs for each family group will be on their tables to serve themselves fruit salad/croissant/ham and cheese.

Evening Meals/Lunches

  • If restaurants and bars are still restricted or if you would rather not go to them you may wish to order a takeaway.  We have a number of locations where you can eat your takeaway:  including certain bedrooms, The Snug, The Library, The Dining Room and the garden (weather permitting).  Please help yourselves to plates and knives and forks from the Dining Room.

  • Packed lunches will be available.
