Rydal Lodge Country House is a listed building with parts dating from the 16th century. It is an historic house situated in extensive gardens by Rydal Water with the River Rothay flowing through the grounds. Riverside seating in the summer provides an ideal setting in which to relax in the stunning scenery.
Situated conveniently close to Ambleside in the South Lakes, Rydal village is a conservation area and within easy reach of Grasmere, Keswick, The Langdales, Bowness, Hawkshead, Windermere and Ullswater - it is a great base for exploring The Lake District.
We have a licensed bar so in the evenings you can relax in our cosy Snug with a drink or, if you're hungry, you can pop across the road to the Badger Bar where you can have a bite to eat and, if you're lucky, see some badgers feeding in their car park.
We strive to run an eco-friendly, ethical establishment. Our breakfast ingredients are locally sourced, we order bottled milk from our local milkman and stock the rooms with Fairtrade products as far as it is possible. We bank with Cumberland Building Society which has a strong environmental and ethical policy. Even our cleaning products are environmentally friendly.
Come and stay and leave your car in our free car park for the duration. There are some fabulous walks right from the door: you can follow our recommended routes or borrow our local maps to plot your own. Brollies, walking poles and map holders are available on loan (no charge) from Reception.
We have one dog friendly room - The Loughrigg Suite.
